Hooters Girls Sue Chain Over Uniforms!
Shown here are Hooter's girls with T.R. Annie dressed as a Hooter's "girl" as well. As if wearing a Hooters uniform isn't bad enough, now news is out that some waitresses at the restaurant chain have to pay for their short-shorts, tiny tanks and shiny suntanned pantyhose, too.
Hooters waitresses Gina Rosati and Amy Frederick filed a class-action lawsuit in Brooklyn, NY federal court yesterday accusing the Hooters of Long Island chain of labor law violations, the New York Post reports.
The suit seeks back pay and damages from owners Richard Buckley and Christopher Levano, as well as parent company Strix, according to the paper.
"Hooters of Long Island requires its waitresses to purchase and wear a nationally recognizable uniform," attorney Louis Pechman wrote in the suit, as reported by the Post..
So, what does it cost to dress as a Hooters girl? Well, $19.43. Here's the breakdown: "Dolphin" shorts, $5.45. Lycra tank top, $6. Shiny beige pantyhose, $2.50. Pouch, $3.23. Thick white socks, $2.25. Serving Buffalo wings half naked. Priceless.
Waitresses must share their tips with the kitchen staff, a requirement Pechman claims is illegal. At least 100 waitresses could qualify to collect, adds the paper.
Some would think making employees wear shiny beige pantyhose and slouch socks should be cause enough for legal action....!
What do you think? Is it fair to make the Hooters waitresses pay for their skimpy work wear? Leave a comment! Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (2) | Blog

MY third movie of the summer and that i saw 2day was shorts. That movie deserves 7 stars. Oh and I meant 7 out of 5 stars. My favorite characters were toby, hellvetica, and lugie Hellvetica is a bully but has to pick on toby to feel beter about herself because her dad never listens 2 her. Also her… Read More »

Michelle Obama's wardrobe is in the news once again. This time, people can't stop talking about how our first lady wore both short (ish) shorts (the nerve!) and also a surprisingly Read More »

I ts 101 degrees here. My office building
was built in 1888 and doesn't have great A/C. Thus, I'm
constantly hot. My usual wardrobe has sleeves but
lately I've been going sleeveless, wearing dresses and tops
(not spaghettie straps, but with about 2 to 3 inches thick
straps).… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog

My summer uniform consists of mostly dresses and the
occasional skirt, but oddly, I never consider a pair of shorts.
It's the most basic of all summer clothing, yet I seem to
ignore this every year. I've been seeing the cutoff jean short
all around these days and thought I better get myself… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (6) | Blog

Sometimes, shorts are just
decidedly unattractive... I hate to be the grinch who stole summer,
but we’ve gotten to that point in the season where the streets are
filled with short-wearers and I, for one, would like to lodge a
complaint.
Now I’ll admit up front that I fall very firmly into the…

One of the most welcome things, for me, about the Michelle Obama-mania seizing the fashion industry is the fact that for the first time that I can remember, the woman that designers would kill to dress is an actual grown-up, lady-type person. As opposed, I mean, to a sloppy, underpants-optional…

Kate Moss and boyfriend Jamie Hince set out on a shopping excursion in London yesterday. Is that Browns I see in the background? The super model stuck to her usual uniform — black blazer, Ray-Ban Wayfarers — but switched things up in a pair of pleated denim shorts. Those large pleats remind me of the pleats on Alexander Wang's Gap/CFDA khaki shorts. I smell a trend, do you? See how to get her look here. Read More »
