Summer is here! Let's take protective measures while in the sun. When the sun causes lips to burn, long lasting damage can occur. The collagen, for example, can be altered. Collagen is the protein that gives lips body and resilience - and helps keep wrinkles from forming.
The sun's ultraviolet rays are strongest between 10a.m. and 2p.m. Staying out of the sun as much as possible between these hours is wise. When spending time outdoors, wear light colored clothing, plus a hat, and sunglasses that block ultraviolet rays. And who will forget sunblock? Yes, almost everyone today knows the benefit of sun protection. Shelves at beauty stores are lined with different sun protection products, starting from SPF 15 or higher that that specifies broad-spectrum protection.
Why do we often forget the lips? Young lips (children's and teens') are especially vulnerable. Studies have shown that UV over-exposure during the first 18 years of life can cause the damage that later results in adult skin cancer.
So, are you going out today? Don't forget your LipCare barrels, just a swipe will protect your lips from damage, a real anti-aging weapon. Finally, you may want to look for a lipcare that's petroleum-free, not derived from the same crude oil that is used to make gasoline (arrghh...) Look for all-natural skin-friendly ingredients that are nature's remedy to soothe, heal, and protect.

It's ok—you're not just being cheap. Companies know that people are stretching their dollars right now, so the demand to “try before you buy” is greater than ever. Just don’t go cray-zay. Saleswomen tell us the best way to get samples is to avoid treating the cosmetics department like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Instead, tell them your skin type or your problems with certain ingredients, or your plain old love of red lipstick. With that in mind, they’ll be able to hook you up with samples that you’ll love—and stuff you’re more likely to come back and buy. (Oh, and don’t act like you’re Katie Holmes on a Fred Segal shopping spree if you’re not—be upfront about wanting to test something out. It saves everyone time.) Now that you know your sampling etiquette, check out what’s going on at some beauty counters right this minute.
