After a leaking icemaker damaged her 300 square foot kitchen, Gwendolyn Bounds decided to gut and green the room. She quickly discovered that a top-to-bottom green renovation involved lots of research and time (484 days, to be exact, she wrote in the Wall Street Journal).
“This is an industry that hasn’t changed a lot, aside from air-conditioning, in the last 100 years,” Michelle Moore, vice president of the Green Building Council, told her. “It takes courage on the part of initial homeowners to step into the waters.”

Let me catch you up, if you're not already following along with this renovation. Thread & Butter are two city-girls-gone-country, currently neck-deep in the renovation of a fixer-upper house in Pennsylvania.
