This morning at 5:45 Boot Camp we did tons of jump roping during our circuit workout. I love it! Jumping rope burns big-time calories in a short amount of time. In fact, I've read that 10 minutes of vigorous jumping can yield the same benefits as a 30-minute jog. It's also a great way to improve balance, coordination, and increase your endurance. Q: cathrynmag says: Hello, I have a question. The ceiling in my house is too low for my jump rope. Is jump roping without the rope just as effective as with one?
Answer: Jumping rope is a great workout. You burn a ton of calories (as many as 10-15 a min.), increase endurance, and build muscular strength. There's also a great rope-free gadget on the market called the Jump Snap that includes a timer and calorie counter. You can find the Pink-Jump Snap (for Breast Cancer Awareness) on amazon.com for about $24.95. Here's the link.
