Joaquin Phoenix appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night and—there's no other way to say this, really—it was a freaking disaster, the kind of television that makes you squirm and delight and feel weird all at the same time. The 34-year-old actor was on the show to promote his new film Two Lovers with Gwyneth Paltrow and, maybe it was because after this (he says) he's retiring from acting to pursue an already laughable career as a hip hop star, but Phoenix very clearly didn't want to be there.
