The most useless
advice I’ve ever heard when it comes to
my
weight loss has been “everything in moderation.” If you have a
normal relationship with food, then, of course, moderation
is a great principle to live by (and eat by). But an
honest look at my eating behavior has revealed (as I’ve shared here
before), that certain foods are addictive for me, in very real and
physiological ways. I’ve IDd many of these foods, and
the new food plan I’m on (the one I shared with you
all a couple of weeks ago) does not include any of those trigger
foods—mostly products that contain refined white sugar. I’ve been
successful in staying away from them, and after the first few days
of
major withdrawal, I’m actually dealing OK. (Dare I say:
It feels a little bit like
freedom to be
staying away from the fro-yo, because I haven’t had to deal with
the cycle of resist/binge that inevitably follows a sugar fix for
me.)
