I have noticed a lot of sequined hot pants in stores this season. They're always tiny and sparkly which are perfect if you're feeling brave for the party season. With ruching a regular on the runways (including most recently for spring 2010), a few extra frills will serve you well throughout the year. Designer T-shirts are an easy way to capitalize on the trend and not spend a fortune.

"I think the ruffling is something everyone can pull off," says Sonya Cosentini, style expert for T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. "It just depends on how you layer it and what you wear with it. It's a very feminine and pretty look, and so many of the hot trends are very masculine for fall -- like boyfriend blazers and bomber jackets. So, it's a great balance to those pieces."

Lady Gaga has been pioneering the leotard recently. She has deemed trousers pointless and has even headed out in the cold London weather in little more than a leotard. T.R. Annie has been seen shopping in a leotard (left).

The leotard is usually reserved for gymnastics and other sporting pursuits but with so many luxe sportswear labels now on offer it seems a shame to restrict yourself. It's a pretty unforgiving item which leaves very little to the imagination, but if you like a shocking party look then it definitely covers that!

I think I look sexy wearing something revealing like the leotard, but how about you, would you wear a leotard? This studded version is by Topshop Unique (£60).
