If You Hate Doing Crunches
"Working your abs isometrically (a type of strength training that includes static exercises like the plank or the wall sit) and following a strict eating plan will help you shed the fat that hides your abdominal muscles," says celebrity trainer Mike Alexander, who has worked with stars like Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson and Kristen Cavallari. Alexander recommends avoiding fried foods, sugary beverages, starches and carbs while adding lean proteins like fish, chicken and veggies (the greener the better) into your diet.

Report AbuseTo have "killer abs" you need to get rid of excess fat. Which means working out your WHOLE BODY. Weight bearing exercises help you build muscle making you look toned and tight in all the right places, give you better posture (making your waist and tummy appear thinner) and they keep your metabolism up throughout the day (where you burn off more fat in the long run than pure cardio).
Besides the normal plank and the side plank, an ab wheel is very good at working your core. Other exercises, such as lunges, squats, and off balance lifts like suitcase deadlifts engage your core in a major way. And best of all, the moves are more practical. How often do you do a crunch in normal day to day activities? Basically never. How often do you lift something off the floor with one hand (suitcase deadlift) or carry weight up stairs (squats and lunges)? All the time. Do these core exercises, in addition to working out the rest of your muscles, and eat right, and your abs will end up looking great, even if you never do a crunch again.

Report AbuseThe wall sit (isometric chair) does it for me, and swimming is great for working your core.

Report AbuseMuscle abs on girls are gross. Stop using the "Just trying to be healthy" excuse too while your at it. Your vanity is the main / only reason your working out. Confidence is sexier than your body ever will be in the long run. So who wants a lager?

Report AbuseI agree with this information, I always wanted to do more walking but never figure out how to do this, I live just about a mile from my down tow. I will start walking there from tomorrow instead of driving, Thanks!

Report AbuseWell I have a six pack and I did it this way...
First only eat one HUGE meal a day preferably around 10pm, just to get the juices flowing during sleep.
Then only do the bench press when you work out...This way it'll strengthen only your midsection. Also do this only once a month, no more or else you will overwork your muscles.
Finally remember that this is going to take a lot of work, so sleep is going to be important not to overwork your body. Sleep about 12-14 hours a day, unless you have drinken the night before, then up it to about 16 hours of sleep.
So eat a HUGE meal get to sleep and melt those pounds away!

Report AbuseI like using the 3D Ab machine and using an exercise ball. These helped me lose my "baby belly" and work so much better than doing regular sit ups with much less muscle pain.
