What does your love see?

Yes that’s a real name, a last name, Mildred(a black woman) and Richard( a white man) Loving. The Lovings were taken out of their home in the middle of night and thrown in jail for what you ask? For being married. I am biracial and that couple made it legal for my parents to be married in Florida. For, they were the ones who went to court to fight for their marriage back in 1966. When they took their case to court they made the rest of 22 states legal for any race to marry each other not just black and white, but Hispanic, Asian, etc. and I for one think that is amazing. The judge told them they could either go to jail for 3 years or be banished from Virginia for 25 years. Loving v. Virginia (1967). The freedom to love is something most of us take for granted. We don’t take the time to see what got us these freedoms and what we can do in these days without knowing who exactly helped us get here. Go on LovingDay.org and check out the whole story, let’s get the word out and make this a national holiday because it deserves to be acknowledged. June 12 is Loving Day, lets celebrate this day everyday.

Did you know about Loving Day before this small article?Did you know who the Lovings were?

Words for thought...

If you are in any kind of interracial relationship, value what you have because there use to be a day where the person you love so much, you could never touch. Think about if the Lovings never existed, would your bf/gf/friend/wife/husband/partner be sitting next you?... Or would you have to hide?

Unconditonal beautiful love does not see color or gender... What does your love see?
