Hot and bothered: funny=hot

I think I've said it before, but I've never been one for celebrity crushes. Even when I was a tween/teen, I didn't plaster my wall with photos of Jonathan Taylor Thomas (what happened to him?) and Kirk Cameron. I remember in seventh grade actually wondering if was normal NOT to crush on celebrities, and cutting out random pictures of Luke Perry and Brandon Priestly and Joey McIntyre to hang on my wall. It was fine, but I didn't feel anything . . . it just felt kind of silly and pointless-I mean, I was never going to actually MEET these people so what was the point in emotionally investing myself in them?

Which is why I surprised MYSELF when I found my heart skipping a beat when I saw the current cover of GQ magazine, featuring Seth Rogen. I actually bought two copies of the magazine. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Seth Rogen, especially since he's so NOT "typical" cover guy material. He's one celeb that I do have a heart-skipping, I really want to plot some way to meet him, I'll watch anything he's in crush on-and I don't care who knows it!

Seeing him on the cover of a mag is so great because it really illustrates that when it comes down to it, personality is just as important-if not more so-than looks. But, the problem is, it seems like guys like Seth are hard to find in real life. I was having this conversation with a friend the other night, as we were discussing various dates and various same-old guys who seem to have the same-old conversations and pick up lines. Where are the guys who aren't afraid to be silly, be out there, and just show their vulnerabilities and insecurities? That's why, personally, I'm thrilled with the spate of Judd Apatow movies that have come out recently, just because I think they show men that they can be themselves, and women will like them, for them (and, obviously, I know the characters in Knocked Up, etc do spend a good deal of time not doing anything/insulting each other/acting like overgrown fifth graders/being objectifying toward women, which is something that would get old). Regardless, I love that funny is valued in our society.

And, Seth, if you're reading this and you're single, contact me!

Seth Rogen

And I want to know-who are your celeb crushes and why?

I have a special place for Seth. I don't know what it is but he gives me little dorky butterflies in my stomach. He is so not my type either. I usually prefer tall, dark and handsome. But he is really none of the above, but that is just fine with me. My sethy-poo.

Wow I'm so happy and shocked to find this post! Just the other day I was thinking about how much I really love Seth Rogan, and that I do have a celeb-crush on him. Lucky for me, I have dated/am dating many Rogan-esque men and couldn't be more pleased. For a while I wondered why I hadn't dated any classically good looking guys (and it ain't because I'm beat up...I don't want to toot my own horn but please take my word on that), but then I realized I haven't met any "hot" guys who weren't tainted by their own looks, meaning they were usually boring or too cocky. I guess I don't like dating a-holes like my girlfriends do either.

So I'll take my funny, hairy, chubby jewish boyfriend any day. And Seth Rogan's goofy, gutteral, dorky giggle will always make my heart melt.

I'm so with you on this. Funny is sooooo sexy. If a man doesn't have a great sense of humor, it's a total turn off for me. Now, on the subject of celeb crushes, I have a new one, and it's such a bad crush, my husband has even noticed (usually I don't tell him when I have a celeb crush, out of respect, ya know?) But I just can't contain it. NOEL FIELDING. If you don't know who he is, he's a English comedian, has a show (The Mighty Boosh), does stand up, etc. He's loved by many young girls, I'm probably the oldest woman to have a crush on him (at a whopping 35 yrs, LOL) But it's his humor that attracts me. It reminds me of Monty Python mixed with Kids in the Hall or something to that effect. Anyway, Funny is King when it comes to attraction (not that looks aren't important, but looks are nothing without the personality).

He's "hot" because he's funny? I call BS. He's hot to the writer because he's funny, rich, successful, rich, famous and rich. Did I mention rich? Yeah, he's rich.

You ladies are kidding yourselves. It doesn't matter how funny a guy is if he's working at Burger King or bagging groceries. You will pass him right by for the hunky bad-boy jerk who will end up treating you like crap. Admit it to yourselves. Knowledge is power.

not true Trebuchet. I fell in love with my husband when he was working at Subway. He had long hair, no money but he was the most funny, endearing, attractive person I ever met. I'm totally turned off to the guys who are "pretty" and think they are the coolest. You'll never find me at a club, because that's where all the pretty boys hang, thinking they can get all up on any girl they want, and because their sunglasses have bling on them, they are a gift from God. Not every woman is a gold digger-- have you ever considered that?

geeks and comedians are the way to go! Go Seth!!
