Bridezilla dream come true: 24/7 wedding channel to launch

Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises

Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises

Most women have seen and perhaps enjoyed TV shows like "Bridezillas," "My Fair Wedding," and "Amazing Wedding Cake," or movies like "Bride Wars," "The Wedding Planner," and "My Best Friends Weddings." The success of such shows and films has proved that there is a huge audience for wedding programing, whether it's the casual viewer who likes seeing a woman find the perfect dress, or a compulsive Type-A bride-to-be who spends afternoons tearing out pages from Modern Bride.

Cablevision has picked up on this trend and will be launching a wedding channel featuring all things matrimony 24/7. Obviously we've been acquainted with the concept of a "bridezilla," but we wonder just how much wedding planning and obsessing is too much? Do we really need a bridal network? [NY Post]

OMG!!!! Those ladies (I use THAT term loosely)tick me off. I had a didtant reletive that got married a couple years ago and I got volunteered to help with the wedding. She was griping and complaining the entire time that were were doing things wrong, blah, blah, blah. I finally had enough and told her if she didn't like it, she could do it all herself or shut the he11 up. I left for home the next morning and have no idea how it turned out.

My MIL is a wedding/event planner so I am sure she would have this channel on a good portion of the day....

Joy...Now all they need is a Divorce TV Channel to offset the monotony of the Wedding Channel. Both channels can be chock full of reality television that targets women and paints them as neurotic obsessive compulsive stereotypes in one genre and then helpless victims striving to get pass the emotional hardships of their man's infidelity in the other.

Isn't Lifetime, Oxygen or WE enough? Oh wait, on Oxygen all they run is "Snapped" 24/7 where they bombard viewers with women who kill their spouses over abuse/infidelity/forgotten anniversary.

Do we need a Bridal Network? Nope...just like we don't really need a Football Network, Cross-Hatching Network, Reality TV Network...etc etc etc.

The dumbing down of America continues which is the sad reality in itself.

I love weddings! Even though I am not planning one of my own, I love everything about them! The gorgeous dresses! The designers! The parties! The cake! The decorations! The themes! The uncomfortable inlaws who don't get along with or are just radically different than the other family! The hairstyles...etc. I would definately watch!

oh yippee...more reality show crap about folks others will either love to love or love to hate...which will lead to more inane articles about bride X's behavior...which will lead to even more inane discussions of whether she is right/wrong/good/bad...No, Joanna, I don't think "most" women watch this dreck, in fact, I don't know any one who does. As for me, I unplugged my TV a month ago and am storing it in a spare bedroom. There is very little I miss watching. But Dubs...it will get connected again in time for the NFL pre-season...football is my dreck of choice. :)

Bridezillas should be ashamed of themselves and not placed on television shows. Reality t.v. shows suck.

I must admit I am a lover of the wedding shows, I can't say I am a huge fan of the way people act on the shows but I love the process of wedding. My long-term dream is to become a bridal consultant, so I am excited about the Wedding Channel.

This is just too scary for me. I am sure that the people in the wedding industry won't mind something like this as it may lead to more money coming their way. But too many women want a "dream wedding" that consists of too many material things and a complete focus on her. A wedding is about two people coming together, not looking better than everyone, having the perfect cake, and trying to impress people by material things. It is one thing to want a nice ceremony that your guests will enjoy, it is another to be so completely absorbed by weddings that you forget why you are there in the first place. ---Which is all I see in real life, I don't need to see it on television too, especially all day long!
