What is your favorite children’s story?
editor
My favorite book of all time
is Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
and Through the Looking-Glass." The story has taken on new
meanings as I've read and re-read it throughout my life, but
the tale of a young girl in a mysterious and magical land remains,
to me, a classic. I've loved every reinterpreted incarnation
both written and performed, and if these new photos are any
indication, Tim Burton's upcoming movie will be no exception.
Johnny Depp has been selected to play the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham
Carter is the Queen of Hearts, and Anne Hathaway portrays the White
Queen. Tim Burton has triumphed with Depp as the lead in other
fantasy-themed films like "Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory" and "Edward Scissorhands," so I'm
really excited to see how "Alice in Wonderland" turns
out.
Here are some pictures from
the upcoming film and you can view more
here. Unfortunately they'll have to tide you over until the
movie release on March 5, 2010.
What is your favorite children's story? Would you enjoy seeing
it made into a motion picture? If it already has been made into a
film, what did you think of it? [

When I was very small I loved The Berenstein Bears. As I got older I loved Charlotte's Web and The Trumpeter Swan. I still occasionally re-read them for kicks.

Yes I love Alice in Wonderland so needless to say I am really excited about this movie. It's well casted and directed by my fave actors.
I also loved the book Where The Wild Things Are which I hear will be in theaters too.
Ah, to be a kid again.
Ps. I knew that Johhny Depp would be The Mad hatter but he looks like a mix of Elijah Wood and Madonna.

I always like Beauty and the Beast. One of my favorite authors, Robin McKinley, did two different retellings of it. One is entitled, "Beauty", and the other is "Rose Daughter". I know that they made a movie about it, but I think that they should do a new one. However, I might not be thrilled with the result if they did. Only if they got a really good director and producers, and didn't bend the story out of shape.

The Little Mermaid... not the movie... the book. I had this storybook when I was a little girl, 1960's and the pictures were in this 3-D sort of setting.. so when you read the story the she seemed to swim & walk and dance in the pictures... I loved that book and I loved her. So long ago.

Does Johnny Depp normally have the gap in his front teeth? That is throwing me off. I am excited to see this movie though, it looks wild. My fave as a kid was The Velveeteen Rabbit.
