True Mom Confessions & Answers: I swapped my kids' old toys for "new" ones from a swapping website!

TMC: "I'm embarrassed to admit it but this year I swapped my kids' old toys for what they would think were new ones on a swapping website."

TMC Romi: The only people you SHOULDN'T admit this to is your kids -- everyone else should know about it and follow your lead! I actually discovered a great article about online "Swap Meets" written by a mom blogger friend, Christine Koh of Boston Mamas in Shoestring Magazine ( a must read for everyone interested in stretching a dollar).

Christine touts the notion of using swap sites to reduce, reuse and recycle, but frankly, I took it a step further and thought, hey, what better way to "buy" new gifts for this holiday season.

Hopefully, as our TMC mom did, you'll be able to find a gently used Wii game your son is just dying for in exchange for last years must have xbox game that is gathering dust on the shelf. It's a win win for all.

Check out these sites Christine found:

Next up: Bartering services - what services could you offer (cooking, driving, home repairs) and what services would you like (a massage maybe :) ?) Share these with us on the True Mom Confessions blogroll!

What a great idea! Way to save $ and recycle! I'd do this as long as the stuff was clean.
