Visions of NaNo Dancing In My Head

user

It’s a blustery October morning here in the Northland. If the sun would come out, the autumn leaves are near their peak of fabulous color and everyone would be out enjoying the gorgeousness of it. Instead, I broke down and turned the heat on yesterday when the temperature in the house leveled out at a brisk fifty-eight degrees.

I’m almost finished with my book, but it doesn’t feel like really finishing. This still-untitled book is the second in what will be a trilogy. Yes, definitely a trilogy. A few issues from this story will be carried on into Sepp and Claire’s future and I now have a much better idea what all the characters can look forward to in the third book. It’s freeing, but it also feels a little loose and sloppy to be able to carry things over to the next book. I guess that’s my reward for finding three books worth of stuff to write about these characters!

We’re less than a month from November 1, the official start of NaNoWriMo. That’s National Novel Writing Month, for those of you who don’t know. I’m starting Book 3 on that day and I’ll be at least 50,000 words into it by the end of November, if all goes according to plan. I wrote the first draft of A Shunned Man during NaNo 2008. I’m working out as much as I can in my mind this month and sometime after midnight on November 1 I’ll start slamming it down on my computer. Awesome!
