After a few weeks of ripping out 2,000-3,000 words every day on my next book, I screeched to a halt a couple of days ago, adrift in an ocean of character emotions and watching my plot vanish in a monstrous riptide. Whew! That was quite a sentence, but I'll leave it there. Anyway... I took a little time to let it settle in my mind. Last night I deleted a few of the most appalling excesses, so I'm mentally preparing to go forward again, cautiously, on tiptoes. Bah, who'm I kidding? Once I hit my stride I'll be racing forward to the finish line, juggling plot points as I go, hoping I don't drop any.
I originally planned to write three books about Sepp and Claire's adventures, but I'm so immersed in this one and things have changed a little in my mind as I've written. So I really have no idea now what that third book is going to be about. It could go several different ways. I have plenty of time to decide, right?
