Sometimes we lose perspective and forget how blessed we are. This is why I love to watch Highway to Heaven on dvd, because it always makes me look at things as I should. Such a comforting show, I highly recommend it if you've never seen it.
I woke up this morning and did my usual routine. Some people, too many people, woke up and had to figure out how to survive this day. How to feed themselves, or their children. They had no hot water to wash up, no tea kettle to make their morning cup of green tea, not even a toilet or shelter. And yet they still face their day with optimism, some more than most people who don't have to worry about surviving. It is more common than we let ourselves acknowledge, and we try to wipe off our minds. We pretend we don't notice them.
I ask God to bless these forgotten souls, and also the victims of abuse; be it sexual, emotional, or violent. I want them to know they are not alone, and not all of the world has forgotten them. Some of us are still praying for the girl who is molested by a family member, but is afraid to speak out. And the kid who is mercilessly bullied and tries to tell his/her parents but is told bullying is a "normal" thing; when there is nothing normal at all about the terror the kid experiences every day but no one will listen to him/her, because it's all a part of growing up. And the spouse who is mistreated by her/his spouse, but knows not where to turn. And for the true victims all over the world, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
God bless all of you.

Report AbuseHi Kerry,
Thanks for coming by today. I'm home sick tonight with a terrible cold. Just checking in quickly. Took Benedryl which will be kicking in shortly so I can sleep and unstuff this nose.
I am a dog person. Had a white german shepherd named Snow who was so smart. I had a whole post up about her recently and Mike's dog Bridget, a shizu-poodle mix. They are both deceased but were so much fun. Cats kind of freak me out. Had a bad cat experience as a child and never cared for them after that. Always said though that if I had two cats I'd name them Pawlene & Clawdette.
I have an idea in mind for a comic strip about two felines named just that. Just an idea at this stage. You must have your hands full with two male cats. Aren't they territorial? Or is that why one is called, Mr. Sprinkles?
I feel the same way, how could this be random?
Wonderful post you have here, by the way. I really do admire you. So wise at such a young age.
Well, my Benedryl is kicking in so I better go back to bed. Have a wonderful night, dear. Stay healthy!
Carol
