Fun site of the day: You Fell Asleep Watching a DVD

If you’re anything like me, you often times put on a DVD too late at night, maybe even with the lights off, and were sound asleep 20 minutes later. Then a few hours later, or maybe even the next morning, you wake up on the couch or passed out on top of your bed and the once cute but now totally irritating DVD menu is still looping the same images and song in 30 second intervals. It’s bugging you so much, but you can hardly muster the strength in your sleepy state to turn off the darn TV.

Apparently the phenomenon is more universal than I’d ever imagined, as the site You Fell Asleep Watching a DVD proves. After 5 tries, did you really think you’d finally get through “Pride and Prejudice”? No way.

Check out this funny site, and tell us what horribly annoying DVD menus you’ve passed out to. Mine would have to be any season of “Sex and the City” or the James Bond movie “Diamonds are Forever” I was watching at my boyfriends house at 2 a.m. last weekend. I cringe just thinking about the 007 theme. [You Fell Asleep Watching a DVD]

Right now my portable DVD player is the best thing in bed with me. I find at times I can't sleep without it. My favorite "theme menu" loop is from Pride and

Prejudice with Keira Knightley. My least favorite is the UnderCover Brother theme. For more continuous DVD musical pleasure is the loop music from a DVD titled Yoga for the Inflexible. So when I'm having a sleepless night, I'll pop it in and in twenty minutes or so, I'm back to sleep. Who knew that DVD theme music

would be the end all sedative for a good night's sleep.

I love "40 year old virgin" and I watch sometimes before i go to bed, but I hate falling asleep and waking up to "OH WE GUNNA NEED MORE WAX!!!" once it gets to the DVD menu...Somehow its louder than the movie.

Once in a while, I will fall asleep. What happens in my home is my hubby will bring home some guy movie that I really don't want to watch, but, I do to make him happy. HE is the one to fall asleep during his movie. So, I sneek upstairs and leave him sleeping in his chair.

My husband is notorious for putting a DVD on before falling asleep in 10 minutes. I HATE it! I am a very light sleeper so I could run a list of DVD menu-music/sounds that are majorly irritating. Idiocracy (the movie isn't much better) is #1 because it keeps repeating, "Owwww, My balls!" over & over!!!! Spaceballs, Shrek, Finding Nemo, Old School (unrated version), Garfield, I could go on & on & on but these are the only ones I could think of recently! Not to mention the fact that they are annoying but I usually end up dreaming about some skewed thing that was in the movie!!! I know tv's have sleep timers, however ours doesn't work for some reason. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I will put on DVD's specifically to fall asleep. If it is at night I set the TV's timer but my husband usually has to work on the weekends so I lay around watching movies and snoozing all day saturday until he gets home. I also turn the TV down when I know I will be snoozing to where I can understand the dialogue but just barely!
