economic news is not uplifting, and it's the unusual soul
who is not worried at all about job security. But some good news:
There are travel deals to be found if you are planning to travel
during or after the holidays. And, if you had given up hope of
traveling this season, take a look. Here are a few I
found:<br><ul> <li><a rel="nofollow"
href="http://www.aa.com/aa/netsaaver/viewNetSAAverSpecialsDetails.do?saleId=&fileName=HolidaySale.10.31.08.xml">American
Airlines is promoting holiday flights starting at $49</a>,
each way. You can go from Minneapolis to Miami for $99 one way, or
Chicago to Montreal for $163.</li> <li>Flights to <a

href="http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/neworleans_081115.html">New
Orleans from anywhere in the U.S. on Southwest Airlines are half
off</a> if you book before Nov. 18. An added bonus: Southwest
says it will not charge any of the bag fees that are hitting
travelers hard.</li> <li><a rel="nofollow"
href="http://farechase.yahoo.com/promo-generic-14795097;_ylt=AmeAVJGg_fz1nOzLxemghpkpWMMF">Plug
in your home airport on this Yahoo! Travel page</a> and
you'll find several deals from airlines to cities
throughout the world. Deals like: San Francisco to Washington, D.C.
$222, round trip.</li> <li>All aboard for some good
train deals. If you don't mind taking the longer, scenic
route, Amtrak is offering some pretty enticing deals right now. You
can find weekend getaway fares lower than $50 one way between
cities, such as Boston to New York ($49), and Philadelphia to New
York ($36). You'll find fares as low as $62 from New York
to Montreal now, too. </li> <li>United Airlines has
also lowered fares substantially over the holidays. You'll
find $49 flights between Columbus and Baltimore, and Nashville and
Kansas City, and $99 flights from Colorado Springs to New York, and
San Francisco to Raleigh-Durham. <a rel="nofollow"
href="http://airfare.travelzoo.com/north-american-airfare/490811?ptl=done&rating=">TravelZoo
has rounded up these and more</a>.</li> <li>A
quick look at <a rel="nofollow"
href="http://farecast.live.com/deals/airline-ticket-deals.do">Farecast's
cheap flight deals</a> turns up $239 round-trip flights from
New York to Los Angeles, $231 from Seattle to Orlando, and $545 New
York to London.</li> </ul> Of course, not all of these
flights take off on the ideal days you want to travel. But poke
around some travel websites, and you are bound to find deals you
could not even imagine in the summer. <br><br>
