Celebrity dating pools: Which stars you’re convinced you could or couldn’t be with

Upon my obligatory gossip reading for my job, I somehow end up submerged in this world of celebrities. I constantly read about and interview stars and envision myself amongst them. Like every one of you, I’ve had my celebrity crushes, and perhaps I’m delusional or maybe just a bit silly, but I’ve several time convinced myself that given the right circumstances I could befriend or even date some of them.

The biggest one being James Franco. Though now infinitely more famous for his portrayals of a stoner in “Pineapple Express” and Harvey Milk’s lover in “Milk,” I interviewed James Franco several years ago in a small press event for a movie of his called “Flyboys” and sat next to him for 30 minutes and daydreamed about how I could, while still being professional, give him my number, scrawled on the back of my business card. We had some witty banter, I grew increasingly smitten, and he was whisked away by as publicist about 30 seconds after I asked my embarrassing last question: Was he dating anyone. The answer was no and he giggled. (Swoon)

He seemed so accessible and funny and smart and like a normal guy  around my age that I’d date! There were about six other reporters in the room, and several of them commented on how we were flirting. But I couldn’t even rejoice: I knew I’d never get my chance again.

Before you think I’m totally bonkers, can I attempt to convince you I’m not and am happy in a relationship with a non-celeb?

Moving on. My biggest Hollywood crush has been Leonardo DiCaprio for many years. Besides being a talented and handsome actor, he’s always come across as very intelligent to me and I love how much he actively cares about the environment. I loved that he became buddies with Al Gore and my all-time favorite director Martin Scorsese. What a catch he is!

But you know what I finally realized today? I could never be with Leo. Why? His girlfriend, Bar Refaeli, is on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. And she’s freaking gorgeous. His dating a model though isn’t a fluke. His last long tern girlfriend was supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who uh, also was on the cover of the Swimsuit Issue. Okay, so he dates stunning and successful models. I’m out of his dating pool. I’ll just consider this one strike against him.

Am I alone here? Have you ever read about a celebrity and thought, given the right opportunity, that you would be right for each other? Or maybe that you wouldn’t stand a chance? Tell me all about your famous crushes below!

I think it's funny that DeCaprio dates only models, and he's only marginally good looking. When I see him in the beach photos, pudgy and hairless, it makes me laugh. He could NEVER get the women he does if hw was a regular guy. Maybe he's sweet, nice, faithful, whatever, but you could never convince me that's the reason(s) he hooks up with the hotties.

    funny....

Celebs that I think are cute broken down by whether they "SEEM" attainable or unattainable:

Unattainable: Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, the guy that plays Smith in sex& the city, Justin Timberlake, Boris Kodjoe, Barack Obama and many more!

Attainable: Shia LeBouf, Jude Law, James Franco, and others

Hmm, well, I have a crush on Gerard Butler. And given the age difference, no. Not even remotely possible.

I love Hugh Jackman but one of the reasons I love him is his complete adoration and loyalty to his wife. So he will always be just a dream for me, I'd love to meet his wife though, some of the things she has said crack me up, she is so down to earth.

I have had a crush on Ryan Reynolds for as long as Ryan Reynolds has been on the scene. I always daydreamed that hmmmmmm maybe since he was dating Scarlett, who has curves that he would look at my curves and bam....he would fall in love. Of course, now it would not be the case. However, my greatest crush and I do love this man for everything he is..his looks, his style, his geniune goodness, Johnny Depp! I believe that one day I will talk to him and that will be the end of it all. Everyone else is just unattainable!

I have a huge crush on Robert Pattinson. Considering he recently took his stalker to dinner, I think he might give me a chance if he were to ever meet me. Alas, that will most likely never happen and I'm married anyway, but it's fun to daydream!

Mos Def, Dwayne Johnson, James Franco, Hugh Jackman, Hill Harper...just crushes. Though it would be nice to meet them, never really daydreamed about it.

My "husband" is Keanu Reeves! In my mind I'm having endless conversations with him, arguments and discussions. We're are a perfect match in so many aspects (I think), so I just declared him my husband. He's single (more or less), I'm single - so we're good to go! I live in Europe though, and he's so far away... *sniff*
