Weird Pet Behaviors, Explained

user

Find out the real reason your pet chases his tail, makes weird sounds and more You live with them, play with them, and even sleep next to them, but if you're like most pet owners, you often can't figure out why your pets do what they do. Although some behaviors may seem bizarre, there is a meaning to each of them. "Pay attention," urges Cesar Millan, host of Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. "You can break the code." Here's why your pet:

Runs through the house like he's on fire

You're calmly watching TV when your dog bolts past like a shot out of the blue. You have no idea where he's going or what set him off. All you know is that suddenly he's gone nuts.

Don't ship him off to the psych ward just yet. The poor thing is probably just bored. "Satisfied, fulfilled dogs do not do this," Millan says. "If you're away most of the day, or don't play with him enough, his energy has nowhere to go. It just builds up inside him until it explodes. This could be triggered by a scent, the sight of another dog on TV, or just his own frustration."
