Unplug and save money!

plug.jpg
Electricity is shockingly expensive, and most people use far more of it than they realize--by leaving lights on, forgetting to turn off electronics (computers, televisions, stereos) and keeping appliances plugged in.

According to the Department of Energy, "75% of the energy used to power home electronics is consumed when the products are turned off."

How to save? By plugging into power strips instead of wall outlets you can effectively "unplug" several things at once when you flick off the strip--an immediate energy saver that could shave about $30 off your monthly bill, according to energy department estimates.

That may not sound a lot, but always ask yourself: If you had an extra $30, wouldn't you rather spend it on something else besides unused electronics?
