Two Grand a Month

Just curious if anyone remembers that article where, I believe, Suze Orman gave a breakdown for people take home roughly $2,000 a month. I am relocating for a job and am determined that with this new job (the first job I've ever had with real benefits, 401K and everything!) to be as on top of my money as I am on my weight. My plan is to open an ING account, finally start paying back my student loans (with that new income based plan, thank you Obama and Sallie Mae) and save money like it's my job, while living frugally. I haven't chosen a new apartment yet so I want to have a clear set of numbers in mind when considering rent and I want to base everything on just my income, so that my husband's income can go into a retirement fund, period, amen. So, any sort of breakdown or pie chart or personal tips would be much appreciated.

I think its wonderful that you are "making a plan". I would just remind you to try to put aside $$$ for things you can't predict. Best of luck with it.

Caught some of your ideas about "earning" health care through volunteer work. Was immensely impressed. Anyone who can think like that will do fine! Good luck with your new job, Lisbeth. I'm hoping it will be the beginning of nothing but good things for you. :)
