I was just reading that dieters who take a couple of breaths before eating tend to feel more satisfied, enjoy their meals more, and thus are less likely to overeat. (I really did read this, but am searching for the link. Here is one that makes the link between de-stressing and eating less.)

In any case, it seems to me the same method would work with regard to spending control. Let's try it (says IKEA girl)! Before you decide to make a purchase, stop and take a couple of breaths. If nothing else, it gives you a chance to think through what you really want, and whether you want to part with the cash.

Fear less, hope more, eat less, chew more, whine less, breathe more, talk less, say more, hate less, love more, and all good things will be yours.
