Chickens, dumb and dirty as they might sound, are a big part in
today's world. Chicken meat is probably one of the most consumed in
all of the world. Eggs are eaten by the millions. But there's more
use for them than just for egg production and meat products. So
let's check off some good things I have found out about them in my
near 14 years of handling them.
For example: some good things chickens bring( besides the obvious
meat and eggs) is fertilizer. Their manure is very beneficial
to any garden, as the high nitrogen content makes plants greener,
and overall healthier. But don't get it fresh: the nitrogen is so
powerful in the manure that it can literally burn the plants up.
Let it dry for a few and then put it in. Chickens also make good
pets, being quite docile in nature. And then, some roosters can
wake you up with their crowing,( which, by the way, is not a good
morning call. It is for anyone who hears to know that that certain
spot is his territory.) but it's a good alarm anyway.
But chickens aren't perfect. They need good room to roam. Baneys,
the smaller ones, only minimal quarters, but the more in one, the
bigger the coop needs to be. There should be a nesting box, a place
for feed and a place for water. The bigger ones, like leghorns and
rhode island reds, need a place larger than baneys. Feed can be
bought at any tractor supply, or can be weeds or leftover food.
Just make sure they have a good place to live in. So what do you
think of chickens?

Report AbuseI dunno where you got that idea, you certainly can too eat roosters. I have before, the meat or taste of it is no different. And I'm not speaking as a trained expert avian zoologist, no I'm just offrin' friendly info as a guy who's been raisin them a while. That's all.
