There’s so much not to like about Sarah Palin … why do I find myself admiring her?
- April Daniels Hussar, BettyConfidential.com
Like many people outside of Alaska, the first I heard of Sarah Palin was back in August 2008, when John McCain announced her as his running mate. My first reaction: Smooth move, John. We wanted a woman in the Oval Office, now you might be giving us one. My second reaction: How sexist and condescending can you get. We can’t have Hillary, so any old female will do? And my third: Dear Lord, please don’t let this woman end up in the White House. So here’s my confession: I was – and still am – an ardent Obama supporter. Politically speaking I’d say Sarah Palin and I are just about polar opposites. (You say, “Drill baby;” I say, “No blood for oil.”) I shudder to imagine her holding a national political office. But, the thing is, well … see, it’s like this … I kind of like her too.

Is that rain, or the tears of thousands of publishers, TV executives, and celebrities plotting their public rehabilitation pouring down?
AP: Oprah Winfrey at the start of her extraordinary career
It's official: Oprah Winfrey will pull the plug on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2011 after 25 seasons on the air. Rumored for what seems like forever, likely feared for longer by CBS Television Distribution, which distributes the show to more than 200 U.S. TV markets, the shuttering of the heart of Oprah's media empire is nigh. Every girl dreams of having that perfect wedding. But when that time comes, the perfect wedding might be limited to the amount of money the bride and groom are able to contribute.
I'm currently planning for an October 2010 wedding and have already spent $6,000 on my reception alone. A friend of mine is getting married this weekend and planned her entire wedding for under $5,000. So I wondered: In what areas can I and others save money in the wedding planning process, but still achieve that perfect wedding? Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (6) | Blog
