No Carbs + No Beer = Mean Mommy

Wanna know why skinny girls are so mean? It's not their personality; they're just hungry.

Katie Wisdom Weinstein: I am not thrilled to say that for my summer vacation (I do not really get a vacation), I am on a diet for the first time in my 41 years. Good God, chaos reigns supreme. See, I am the kind of girl who drinks beer, runs around with kids, makes chow for lots of people, and really appreciates the taste and texture that mayonnaise brings to any dish. I thought at one time that I wanted to die happy and fat, not skinny and mean.

I have a dress to fit into by October for a fancy shindig. Since I am no spring chicken, it takes a while for anything to go away on this body. I still run around with the kids, but my body is not reacting the way I need it to, and definitely not fast enough. So, I diet. I have cut out bread, carbs, alcohol (sort of), and sweets. I am now a b---- . While you lovingly eat ice cream and sandwiches, I eat salad. I might hate you a little bit. To really torture myself, I chose to do this in the summer, when cold beer goes down like butter. Remember summer concerts, picnics, and beer? A thing of my past.

My kids are confused by my increased passion for salads -- I think they want their "ice cream cones and candy all around!" mom back. They might be a little disturbed by my new puppy dog eyes. I should just get on the dining room floor and look at them like I have never eaten a meal, like our dog does. I could beg and do tricks for treats! Wait, how much fat is in one of those tasty puppy treats?

I even bore myself now. There is nothing worse than discussing non-fattening food. I can talk about starting a roux, or the most delicious pie until the cows come home, but trans fats and calories? Can it, Sister.

I have a new theory: some skinny girls are bitches because they are just really, really hungry. That's me. I am in detox from sugar and fat. I am jonesin' for a cupcake or a margarita, but instead I get low-fat string cheese, fruit, and water. Yay.

Now I have to really step up the exercise. I work full-time, so I could sneak it in at lunch. It is no secret that I do not love exercise for the sake of exercise. I love to dance, run around in the park, play, bike, swim, and wrestle. I do not love exercise clothes, sweaty gym equipment, or girls who can wear yoga half-shirts. I imagine that the second tier of b---- will soon come out. She is nasty, so I have to keep her under wraps. At least until this fancy-dress-shindig is over!

I'm not a mother, but I can relate! There's a super party coming up in October and I'm trying to slim down. It sucks cos I like parties and having a good time and I'm constantly cooking goodies for everyone else but I can't touch it (well, I can have *just one*). I haven't broke my beer habit yet (at least I switched to light beer, ugh) but I'm sooo sick of trying to eat right. Can I have a cupcake please?!

As for the exercise--I don't mind it if I'm having fun, but if it's work, then why bother? I used to just get at least a half hour to wind down from the stress of work, but a half hour isn't going to cut it. Because I've partied more than exercise, I'm going to have to do an hour nearly daily to get rid of the bulges, grr...

I envy my best friend who's thin as a rail. All he has to do is just exercise for a few weeks and pow, definition. I got a while to go cos there's this lumpy stuff that is hiding my sexy defined muscles (grin).

Good luck! And you can have a beer to keep that inner "b" under control. Not three or four just yet, tho it's tempting, lol!

*NEWS FLASH* I am a b---- bc I can be. I am only a b---- to ppl that deserve it. It has nothing to do with being hungry. Did u ever stop to think that all the bitching about skinny ppl can have the same negative affect on us as all overweight remarks has on you??? Yes if I see or hear a person making a comment or looking at me weird I am a mega b---- to them. Why? bc I didn't do anything to them. I am actually the weight I am suppose to be for my height and age. Blame it on DNA. All the women in my family are tiny. Me being the smallest. So next time you get ready to make a remark about how skinny another woman is, stop and think how u would feel if she was to make a remark about your weight. And next time you are flipping thru a magazine and see a skinny model, do try and remember that little thing called photoshop.

Oh wow people... have you ever tried going on a diet? EVER! If you have you would understand what she is trying to say... When I am hungry I get very cranky... ask my husband and the rest of my family... Personally.. I believe that it's a play off of the book called... wait for it... wait for it.... "SKINNY BITCHES"...

Everything in moderation and portion control. Your diet of just salad and cutting out carbs, sugars, etc is ridiculous because I know you aren't planning on doing this the rest of your life. If you stop dieting and just eat with three meals a day with a healthy snack in between along with a regular exercise routine you enjoy (no one says you have to join a gym) as you said you liked to bike and swim, you will find that the weight will start coming off AND staying off. But if you are doing it just to lose a few pounds for that big event, you are wasting your time and confusing your body. This is a lifetime commitment. I believe you can do it! :-)

Nope never been on a diet, never had to. All I'm saying is before you go on rant about skinny women stop and think how you would feel if some one went on a rant about overweight women. Making remarks about a skinny womans weight is the same thing as making a remark about an overweight woman's weight. Its the same thing. It has the same negative impact. And i never read the book Skinny bitches bc the title is offensive to me. I wouldn't read a book called Fat Bitches either.

This has to be *the* wrongest, stupidest thing I've ever read.

I am a skinny girl. I am also a b---- , to some people. I am, however, *not* hungry.

I truly enjoy exercising for sake of exercise and eating healthy. I don't miss sodas, red meat, white bread or sweets, all of which I've banned completely two years ago.

What you're doing is called making excuses. You're making excuses for stuffing your face and that's no good.

Um yeah and you CAN diet without being hungry all the time.

If you're hungry all the time, you might want to rethink your diet. Add more lean protien, it helps stave off hunger. The less satisfying your food, the less likely you are to meet your goals.

If by "hungry" you're not actually talking about physical hunger, but about craving foods, you may need to go a little easier on your diet. Allow yourself small treats every now and then, and find healthy foods you like--fruit is a great treat. Get a hobby, so you have something to talk and think about other than food.

Most of all, try to focus less on your food and diet and maintain a positive attitude. I don't think it's necessarily skinny people who are bitchy--I think it's people who are negatively preoccupied with their weight and food choices. I know plenty of thin, happy people. They're happy because they choose to maintain their weight in a manner that doesn't leave them feeling deprived, and have plenty of other things going on in their lives. We should all be so lucky.
