Why are women scared to build muscle? More than once I have heard a
girl talk about how she wants to work out, but she's afraid it
will make her look too manly. She wants to exercise her arms to get
rid of the flab, but is convinced that lifting some dumbells will
turn her into Butch.
First of all, a female can lift all the weights she wants, and she
will in fact remain female.
Secondly, it is not in our genetic code to build muscle like a man.
While some girls are able to get larger muscles than others, it is
pretty much impossible to build muscle the way our brother does. We
just don't have the testosterone for it.
That being said- what the hell is wrong with a little muscle
anyways? It is vital for a woman to be physically strong. I am able
to hoist myself onto a counter to reach something on the top shelf
when my husband is out of town. I can lug around my neices and
nephews without whimpering or passing out. I can open the jar of
pickles all by myself. I can move furniture, flip mattresses, and
carry any kind of heavy load from point A to point B.
I am woman. Hear me roar.
Having muscle strength provides me with confidence. I am self
sufficient in my household chores, and I also have a fighting
chance if I am ever physically threatened. While I may not have
much combat skill, I do have some brute force to back me up.
Having muscular strength does not threaten feminity.
Desiring to be the weaker sex will only make you
the weaker sex.
Get out of your traditional gender guidelines and do what is good
for you. Forget what you're told about how a woman should be,
and get out there and kick some ass!
