Infertility Diaries: Not a Fan

I was a bit of a tomboy growing up...a short phase, but I definitelywent through one. I still have the scars to prove it. I'd fall aboutonce a day, scrape my knee or elbow and wipe away the blood like it waswater.

I think I need to go back to being a tomboy.

This past Saturday, I woke up to the brown sludge I've been seeing fora while now, accompanied by red blood. It wasn't as easy to "wipe away"and forget about this time. I promptly called the triage nurse, and wastold to stay off my feet for at least 24 hours...I wanted to scream:"I've been off my feet for a MONTH!" But I followed the directions, andlaid flat on my back all day...

This caused other complications: made my bladder function go wacky, andstrange pinching pains were pulsing near my pelvic bone. So at 2:30amwhen I knew I'd end up in the loony bin if I didn't figure out what wasgoing on, I called the nurse back--and was told to get to the ER assoon as possible.

Three and half hours later, with a normal urine test and a reassuringglance at Ron* we were sent home...the u/s technician told me she seesthis in 90% of her patients....90%!! Hard to believe, when everythingI've read says that only 1% of women get a subchorionic hematoma. I wastold that as long as the hematoma is there (which it definitely is) Ihave a chance of bleeding...as long as I'm not soaking a pad. I thinkthe POPE could tell me not to worry, but when I see blood, I panic.

I've definitely been living my life in 24-hour-increments since wefound out about the hematoma, and I'm NOT A FAN of the roller coasterit has kept us on. I continue to be grateful for each day--I just praythis little life can keep growing despite the pesky roommate. Where canI get an eviction notice??

*Ron is the nickname we have given our wee-one. When we had our IVFtransfer, we put back three embryos, and nicknamed them: Harry, Ron andHermione. And since Ron is my favorite character, that's the one thatstuck!

Blood is very scary to see when pregnant. No doubt about that.

I have several friends and a cousin who've bled during and some throughout their pregnancies, and their babies are just fine. Granted, I'm not the Pope, or God for that matter, but I thought maybe telling you about others might help a wee little bit.

I'm praying for you and your bean, Ron. : )
