First of all, I don't usually call it "soda", I call it "pop", but the word soda seems to be more universally recognized, so...
I've read quite a few articles lately about people who think they're doing well by drinking diet soda, when in fact, it's been found that people who do so are heavier than people who drink regular, sweetened soda. Incredible! I've been drinking diet for years, and find regular wayyyy too sweet.
So, do these findings include drinks like Crystal Light? Diet iced tea? I'd really like to know. I drink lots of water, but I need some flavor, sometimes a little caffeine, and water doesn't always cut it when I'm stuck at a desk for eight hours. What do you drink?

Report AbuseMyself I have found that all soda and other such sweetened beverages aren't so great. When I do need something sweet to drink I pick beverages that have only real sugar that I add myself, no sweeteners or any of that high fructose syrup stuff (yuck!). Believe it or not, Kool-Aid is great, get the sweet while controlling the sugar. When I need coffee I have coffee with milk and a little sugar, usually iced, or teas. Sometimes I smoosh a piece of apple, orange, lemon, or even berries in a tea pot with some tea, though I usually strain out the chunks before sipping (makes for great iced teas too!). A real treat is mint and hibiscus tea with a bit of sugar, you might be surprised at the taste! I like flavor, but I also like how I feel when I don't have the extra crap in my system. Besides, I'd rather save the calories for those tasty ribs or maybe some Chinese dish later on :o).

Report AbuseLiptons mint soothers. If you like hot tea of course! As far at diet drinks go, I hate diet soda. Just drink the real stuff here and there, or none at all. Crystal lite orange is good.

Report AbuseI drink 100% juice, mostly grape. A few drops or maybe an ounce to 8oz of water. A way to make your own flavored water. Very refreshing and not too sweet or expensive. A 64oz bottle lasts me for a week. I save small plastic bottles and take one to work each day. I am lucky b/c I can get free ice all day and the water from the tap in our small town is very tasty. I've heard so much about sodas being so bad for us that I only drink a diet sprite when I have a stomach ache. Hope this helps.
