Feeling dissed by discontinued chips!

Nooooooo! Once again, one of my very favorite foods has been (gasp) discontinued! Potato chips are my can’t-live-without splurge food. I consider myself a chip connoisseur and I had finally found the perfect product. The only ingredients were Russet potatoes, olive and safflower oil, sea salt and herbs (cracked pepper, Rosemary or garlic – yum!).  The texture, flavor, seasoning and crunch were perfection, but my magnificent munchies are no more.

This has happened to me numerous times with foods that had become staples, from popcorn to cereal to salsa. I can understand why some foods get axed (anyone remember Crystal Pepsi & the Saturday Light Live spoof Crystal Gravy?). There’s actually a museum in Ithaca, NY of odd food products that flopped, like bottled garlic cake and edible deodorant (yup, really).

But when some foods get put out to pasture, it feels like a real loss, especially healthy ones that taste great too! Fortunately, fresh fruits and veggies will never disappear.

So, can you relate to my disappointment? What are your favorite foods that are no more? Please share!

Well I don't know if they've been discontinued, but it has been weeks and weeks and many different stores where I can't find my favorite flavored chip. Miss Vicki's Buttermilk Ranch: I can find other flavors, but they're not the same...

My mom and I used to eat these diet bars, I can't remember what they were called, but they were delicious. They used to come in chocolate and vanilla, and at the time we were both on a "diet", so we weould eat those and drink alot of water. I think they finally took them off the market because they had started actually making people gain weight!

Molina's Mexican Cafe closed last month after over 20 years, and there went the most delicious cili con queso in the South. Oh sure, there are a million Mexican restaurants here, but none can match that chili con queso.

    I feel like sobbing . I think I will.

I miss those times when you can buy chips in a soda can looking thing. I still have one can of cheetos, which expired in 1990 something. I am saving it forever!
