User post: Cities Celebrate Summer with Restaurant Weeks

It’s that time of the year again so free up your calendars because this coming week restaurants around the country will begin dishing out lunch and dinner for a fraction of the price in celebration of a number of Restaurant Weeks. The economy may still be in the dumps, but with these savings you don’t have to trade eating out for eating in.

If you’re a New Yorker or planning a trip to the Big Apple, starting July 12th more than 250 restaurants in New York City will cut their menu prices in half. Three-course, prix-fixe meals  for lunch and dinner are $24.07 and $35.00 respectively at some of the city’s finest and most fun restaurants like Bar Boulud, A Voce and Del Posto. To help travelers take advantage of these special menu offers, JetBlue is offering flight discounts to Manhattan from Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.

If you cannot make it to the Big Apple or want to escape it, there are plenty more deals where that came from. In fact, across the bridge (or tunnel) New Jersey will be hosting the second annual Go Newark Restaurant Week from July 6 through to July 16 featuring 30 of Newark’s top local restaurants.

Yelp.com, the site where individuals review restaurants, announced it will be hosting it’s very own Restaurant weeks in Houston and Denver. From July 20-July 26 participating restaurants in both cities will offer $25 prix fixe menus for a three course meal so long as you make reservations and mention that you’ll be eating from the Yelp Eats! Menu.

Similar summer deals are also available to those in or off to Charlotte as soon as July 10th, when food lovers can enjoy 3-course, prix fixe steak dinners for only $30 per person at places like Del Friscos, Morton’s and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouses. And from August 9th -14th American Express card holders can eat their way through Boston, Cambridge and the surrounding areas for  $20.09 lunch and/or $33.09 dinners. Early bird reservations are being accepted from July 12 through July 24, 2009, so get your table now!
