User post: 6 Ways To Make A Store-Bought Apple Pie Feel Homemade
user

With fall comes the apple
harvest. Farmer's markets and grocery stores are filled
with all colors and varieties of the season's best
apples. It is definitely a great time of year to make a warm,
delicious, cinnamon spiced apple pie. That being said, who
has time?!
Fortunately, you can find a good quality frozen apple pie at your
local grocery store for under $10. While it bakes in your
oven, it will fill your house with that wonderful sweet spicy
aroma. It's what you choose to do with the pie when it
comes out of the oven that can trick your family and friends into
believing you made the treat yourself.
Here are a few ways to dress up that store bought apple pie to make
it appear homemade:
- Drizzle it with caramel sauce, and serve warm with caramel ice
cream, and a caramel candy on top.
- Serve each slice with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and a
sprinkle of cinnamon. Beat 1 cup of cold heavy cream with an
electric mixer, once peaks form blend in 2 tablespoons of powdered
sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla just until combined. Place a dollop
of the whipped cream on top then sprinkle on the cinnamon
- Sprinkle each slice of warm apple pie with cinnamon and 1
tablespoon of light brown sugar.
- Soak golden raisins (or dried cranberries) and pecans in 1 cup
of brandy. Add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to a slice
of pie then scatter the infused raisins and pecans across the
top.
- Add a scoop of cinnamon ice cream to a warm slice of apple
pie. Then sprinkle with turbinado sugar
- Top a warm piece of apple pie with butter pecan ice cream and
candied pecan pieces
With a few toppings, you can make your store bought apple pie feel
like you spent hours making it yourself!

One more thing, take your frozen apple pie out of the tin foil pan and put into a class pie plate and bake, don't tell. Nobody will ever know you never mixed a thing. I preferr Mrs Smith pies the best in the world and so close to homemade. won my boyfriend over many years ago making that pie with all my TLC.

Interesting, but store bought pies will always be gross, no matter what you do to them. Store bought is never worth the calories.

funny how all these suggestions pretty much call for ice cream or whip cream to cover up the pie. Firstly, making apple pie is incredibly easy. But if you don't want to make it; buy a good name brand of frozen pie, and as poster 2 said, switch it from the tin to a glass pie dish and bake it.

Nothing can actually make store bought pie better. It is not difficult to make pie.

For God's sake! Most of these suggestions are more work than just making the stupid pie would be!

Making an Apple Pie is such an easy thing to do at home, easier than making the average dinner. and nothing can be done to a store bought pie to make it taste even close. unless you like chemicals that taste like mush.

I'll stick to making it from scratch because one its easy, two I know that what goes in it are fresh ingredients and not packed full of chemicals or preservatives I cannot pronounce, and three cooking and baking real food from scratch is becoming a thing of the past, and probably one of the reasons obesity is becoming such a problem, because we eat processed, packaged, frozen garbage all the time! I'll stick to grannys old fashioned recipes, I think its time we had real good food again instead of store bought rubbish that needs "doctoring" up and added fat and calories to make it edible, if its a truly good pie it needs nothing, although I have to admit that a slice of american cheese on a piece of homemade apple pie is yum!
