Homemade Tailgate Party

Football season is in full swing – this is evident by the Green and Gold that seems to invade my couch on Sunday afternoons. Not to mention the mass amounts of meat, cheese, and beer that has taken over my fridge.

Even though my fellow Packer fans and I can’t make it up to Lambeau Field, we always seem to bring the tailgating fun to my apartment. With fun dips, tasty finger foods, cold drinks and Packer pride, we cheer our team onto victory.

With Taste of Home’s collection of delicious tailgate fare and helpful tips you can throw your own game-day party.

Tailgating Tips
  1. Keep your menu simple. Guests aren’t expecting a seven-course meal for such a casual get-together. Three or four homemade dishes should be the maximum. Fill in with purchased items like chips and store bought cookies if necessary.
  2. Set up a card table in a living room for food. This will keep space free on the coffee table for drinks and plates.
  3. Keep your guests hydrated and out of the kitchen by using coolers to keep drinks icy-cold.
  4. Even though you’re at home, use disposable plates and utensils. This will help with the clean up!
  5. Decorate your home in your team’s colors! You can even color coordinate the flatware and napkins!
