Candyland: Mast Brothers Makes Artisan Chocolates From Global Coops

Whenever I am invited to a dinner party, I like to bring the host something in addition to a bottle of wine or champagne. My friend, who happens to be a chocoholic, recently had a dinner party. I brought these Mast Brothers Chocolates and they were a big hit.

Mast Brothers Chocolate located in ultra-hip Williamsburg, Brooklyn is the only New York City bean to chocolate maker. What makes them special is that they are among only a handful of artisan chocolate makers in the U.S. Mast Brothers uses the world’s best cacao, sourced from small family farms and coops around the world including Madagascar, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.

I recently stopped by the sweet shop with rustic charm. Right now they only sell their infamous and beautifully packaged chocolate bars, but they also offer plain truffles. Visitors can see their beautiful kitchen in the back and check out how the chocolate is made.

The chocolate bars are wrapped in some pretty spectacular and special papers imported from Italy.

You can purchase a bar for around $7 or in packs of three for $20.
