Would You Wear Blue Lipstick?
partner
With New York fashion week
behind us and the London shows quickly drawing to a close, there
have been enough cameos by statement lips of the red, pink, and
berry varieties to make a well-stocked collection of lipstick/lip
stains compulsory for next season. At yesterday’s
House of Holland show, the designer looked outside the box, as
he is wont to do, and introduced a glossy cobalt into the equation
to round out the dark lavender and fluorescent tomato pouts he also
sent down the runway courtesy of makeup artist Lucia Pica. Seeing
as how Holland capitalized on the popularity of black lips last
season by choosing a midnight purple shade for his presentation,
the off-kilter color wasn’t that jarring coming from him. It was,
however, a bit of a surprise when it made a repeat appearance at
Paul Smith Women—albeit in a more matte, Ceylon
incarnation—joined by another round of bright orange-red, a deep
wine, and even a lone shade of green. We’d say that the color blue
is best left to the catwalk, although who knew the obsidian craze
from last year would’ve been such a hit? Perhaps a few
MAC Pro Lipmix shades for at-home color blending might also be
a worthwhile investment come spring.

I love it, I like to mix up my look and really it looks no faker than the cherry red plumpled lips you see everywhere.

Ha Robyn! I was thinking the same thing! That model ate a Smurf and forgot to wipe her mouth off!

I think blue works as a lip color - IF it's worn correctly. I remember Cover Girl had a blue and a green lippie out a few years back. Weird to look at in the package - BUT when you layer them with a red/pink/peach - stunning...I've not found anything like those colors recently. The closest was MAC's Dazzleglass in Blue Comet. Pretty . . . but no where near the effect the CG lippies gave.

NOOOOO way! There are a few colors of lipstick no woman should ever wear. Black, blue and green don't flatter anyone's face. Save it for Halloween.

I did once as a teen, and why not, ALL colors work, black is nice, too so don't knock it! Extreme reds sometimes look way too much, but we wear it. It depends what look you are going for, heck my mom still wears that hot pink 80's lipstick, kind of cheesy, but if you get the expensive kind it works if you are going for a look!

Personally it's not for me as I am more of a classic girl (and I don't tend to play up my lips, I'm more of an eyes girl)... but I guess it's ok as long as you don't look like a teenage girl experimenting with any and all things make up...

No. I would wear a sheer gloss, but not a lipstick.

Never wear this color unless you want to look like an idiot.
