What To Wear To: An Interview

Interview

They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so looking your best for an interview should be number one on your list. You'll be nervous enough as it is, so with the right ensemble, at least your mind can be free to fret over your resume (or whether your breath is fresh enough).

You'll want to look professional but not as if you are trying too hard, so a pencil skirt in a light, summer color will do the trick. Pair it with a secretary-esque bow tie blouse (very chic this season) and make sure to tuck the top into the skirt so as not to appear sloppy or unkempt.  Then, slip on some simple yet structured ballet flats in a complementary color. Your jewelry should be simple, but not non-existent, so the best option is a gold statement bracelet that shows your penchant for fun. You can add a pop of color with ruby red studs. Before you nervously walk out the door, pack your resume in a black patent leather tote that exudes professionalism, sophistication, and above all else, style.

Love the outfit, includimg the flats... but I would save those for Casual Friday, not for a first impression. Much too casual in the business world. A low backless heel would be more appropriate.

I agree with the last comment, try a low heel, a great choice (and much cheaper than those flats) is this one: http://www.bridalshoesonline.com/Jacqueline_by_Touch_Ups_p/bwl729.htm

They're called Jacqueline, which happens to be my daughters name.

Or if you want black, try these: http://www.bridalshoesonline.com/marie_by_Special_Occassions_p/so4930-fslash-50-fslash-33.htm

Simple yet dressy, they're called Marie.
