Since I started my teenage years I've been in between a size 12-14 and I've always had trouble finding good party dresses. Most come sleeveless, too short, or too small! I have a formal party coming up this weekend and I can't seem to find anything that I'll feel comfortable in that won't be showing too much. I don't mind being a plus size but I also know what looks and what doesn't look good on me for my body type so I want to find something that's flirty yet sophisticated. No bare shoulders, and no bare back. Any suggestions?

Report AbuseI'm there with you. Size 12-14, "full" arms (not bat wings). Don't want sleeveless, or too revealing, but still attractive without being "matronly". When you find that dress, get me one too!!!!!

Report AbuseI am in the same dilema as you. So much so that last night I was at my local Macys trying to find a gorgeous black Calvin Klein dress I wanted to buy for my birthday dinner next Saturday. I don't know the shape of your body but i think its best to stay away from anything clingy or any cheap material. I always go for the structered dresses that show off my good parts (legs and chest) and minimize my not so good parts (belly). Here is a link to the dress I wanted: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=362327&CategoryID=37040&LinkType=SiteAd&LinkLoc=32147&AdID=504031 (you will have to copy and paste this to view it). Its super classy and still fun. With sexy shoes this look was perfect, or so I thought. Turns out they don't cary Calvin Klein in the stores so I was out of luck.
I would suggest you do some online searching and print out the dresses you like. Head to the store and try them on and see what happens.

Report AbuseI can't believe that you all think that size 12-18 are bad.
You do not know what PLUS size is until you have gotten so big you are in a 22-26 and are only 5' tall. That is plus size.
Samx it is not always about what you eat and that is a cruel thing to say. Sometimes it is a physical thing not a control your eating thing.
Believe it or not it can be hereditary.
Been there, done that and I am very happy 100 lbs lighter at size 12-14.
Thank U very Much

Report AbuseI'm a healthy size 12/14 thank you very much. I eat well and exercise. But my size is hereditary. Samx has alot to learn about fashion, health, lifestyle, AND manners, obviously.

Report AbuseI would go to Torrid.com they have these cute dresses that have I think a satiny red or white top and black skirt. It is similar to things that they are selling in Macy's I am actually going to buy the black flowered dress to wear to a wedding with a cardigan on top of it.
Samx- That is pretty messed up. I am sure that you have some kind of body issues yourself and no one says cruel things to you about it. If you arent interested in giving this girl advice why did you look at this post? It is pretty clear what it is about from the title. Go and bug others please. :)

Report AbuseSamX,
You are tired. Everything you write here is tired. This post has nothing to do with weight loss. This post has to do with women accepting the bodies they have and dressing them so that feel happiest with what they have.
Obviously, your issue isn't with magazine articles about weight loss. Your issue is with yourself and the fact that you feel the need to infect everyone you come in contact with online with the negativity, hostility, anger, and inability to accept yourself and deal with YOUR OWN shortcomings.
Maybe you should think about what comes out of your mouth before you dare to tell anyone else what they put in theirs.
