Top 12 Flat Irons

I heard a salon in Seattle is doing chemical straightening on 8-year-olds! Dicey and kinda sad, I think. My messy pony and poufy bangs rocked when I was 8 (nowhere near as cute as these huggable styles, but kind of adorable ... according to my mom). Dude, let kids be kids.

Now us grown-ups on the other hand, have fun stuff like these amazing frizz fighters and the world's most life-changing hair straighteners, and that's a good thing. Any of them would rival a salon treatment, saving you lots of money.

P.S. Make sure you don't buy this hellish flat iron -- over 50 readers said they threw it in the trash after trying it. Yikes!

Protect your hair in that hot iron with one of these.
Forget the iron; embrace your curls! These celebrities did.

I just bought a Jilbere 1 1/2" at Sally's and I love it! My two previous straighteners died (one after a year, one after 2 years) and the lady at Sally's said two years is pretty good?!?! That's the longest warranty they sell, anyway. I have super thick, coarse and curly hair and have to have it over 400 degrees to even make a dent . . . thank goodness for heat protectant spray!!

I can never get mine as perfect as my hairdresser either, but I think it's the blow drying - she spends a ton of time and has it almost perfectly straight before she even starts with the flat iron, where I get bored and impatient and throw down the round brush before it's straight.

I had mine thermally reconditioned a couple of years ago and LOVED it - too bad it's so expensive :(
