Top 12 Flat Irons

I heard a salon in Seattle is doing chemical straightening on 8-year-olds! Dicey and kinda sad, I think. My messy pony and poufy bangs rocked when I was 8 (nowhere near as cute as these huggable styles, but kind of adorable ... according to my mom). Dude, let kids be kids.

Now us grown-ups on the other hand, have fun stuff like these amazing frizz fighters and the world's most life-changing hair straighteners, and that's a good thing. Any of them would rival a salon treatment, saving you lots of money.

P.S. Make sure you don't buy this hellish flat iron -- over 50 readers said they threw it in the trash after trying it. Yikes!

No. 12: Revlon Tourmaline Heat Ionic Ceramic Straightener, $32.99

No. 11: Vidal Sassoon VS175 Studio Tools 1-1/2" Tourmaline/Solid Ceramic Professional Ceramic Straightener, $35.99

No. 10: TIGI Hardcore Straightening Irons, $79.99

No. 9: CHI Turbo Ceramic Flat Iron, 1 Inch, $97.50

No. 8: Rusk Professional STR8 Iron Infused with CTC Technology, $215.99

No. 7: Vidal Sassoon VS182 Gold Series Professional 2-1/4" High Heat Straightener, $25.49

No. 6: CHI Wet to Dry Flat Iron, $148.95

No. 5: ghd Original Ceramic Styling Iron 1 inch, $230

No. 4: Revlon Amber Waves Dual-Edge Straightener, $25.77

No. 3: Conair Infiniti 1" Straightener, $44.99

No. 2: Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2"), $115.95

No. 1: CHI Wee Chi Farouk Hair Straightener, .5 Inch, $101.95

Protect your hair in that hot iron with one of these.
Forget the iron; embrace your curls! These celebrities did.

Before investing in an expensive flatiron I borrowed a CHI from one friend and a GHD from another... needless to say even though I don't section my hair off into paper-thin sections the GHD does the trick. I have very thick/slightly wavy & frizzy hair. Unless I have the time, I don't use any products with it and do not have any issues with flyaways or breakage.

    I heart my GHD!!!

I bought a Sedu for myself for Christmas and I love it. I have very curly, thick hair and without adding alot of product, can have it straight in 15 minutes.

I have a remington 2" and pretty frizzy wavy hair, it works incredibly well. $30 tops don't remember. The worst hiar straightner is well I don't remember the name but it is at a kiosk in the mall by me and within like 5 minutes after him staighting my hair it looked worse than before, and it didn't look very good before either so saying something. BTW cupcake I got my hair highlighted for the first time when I was 13, most of the girls had been highlighting their hair for quite some time at that point so the 8 year old thing isn't that crazy. Most 8 year olds have cell phones too, just the way the world has become.

As a Hairstylist, I love seeing everyone loves the CHI..i as well have one at work, and at home. but PLEASE make sure you are using a heat protectant spray. By the time you hair is dry, it has soaked up all of the product. I strongly suggest Grahm Webb, it's Soft Hold, heat protectant spray(pink in color)..my absolute fav. and I sell it to all of my clients, as well as Sebastion just came out with one very similar! ..just had to throw in my 2 cents! Thanks......oh and i always turn away people wanting relaxers on children..wait until they are old enough when they have to deal with it themselves!

I have the Chi and absolutely love it. My hair is naturally curly and I am amazed at how well it works. I've had it for almost 6 years and it still is going strong. I don't section it into thin strip but do it in layers (a British hairdresser recommended it be done this way as the thin narrow strips are a waste of time and doing it in larger sections works just as well).
