THE Hair Cut for Fall: The Lob?!

No, it's not a fancy softball pitch; "the lob" is actually a term for a long bob (a.k.a., a shoulder-length bob, or what happens when you try last season's trendy bob and let it grow out for a couple months).

According to Pantene celebrity hairstylist Hallie Bowman, the lob is the hair cut for fall. And if you were one of the many, many people to try out the Posh-bob (or Pob, the fun names never stop people!) then you probably already have it.

Didn't succumb to the last uber-trendy cut? Well, you might want to cave in for the lob. Bowman says it's flattering on just about everyone and it's so versatile -- you can wear it straight, curly, wavy, flipped out, up, down, pretty much any way you could think of.

Check out these lob-style how-tos below for some guidance. I don't know about you but I think there's a date with the scissors in my future (I was one of the very few who didn't go down the Pob road).

Try a wavy lob look with this simple how-to.

Check this out, it's the perfect lob updo.

Here's a quick way to dress up a lob -- can you tell I love saying lob? -- or any hairstyle really.

Don't have a lob, but want to look like you do? It's a snap with this step-by-step.

And once more for good measure: lob. (I just can't help myself.)

OK sure. its cute. I had the POB, before posh had it. once it became "THE" cut to have I let mine grow out. Now its below my shoulders, and layered around my face. And I dont think I'll be lining up with every other female to get the LOB. Thanks much, but I prefer my individuality.

I prefer my individuality, too, but it doesn't mean you can make this cut your own and add your own twist...as far as the POB, I think once it grows out you end up with a version of the "Rachel" from Friends...now there's INDIVIDUALITY!!!

That cut would drive me crazy! Like 3/4 sleeves or cropped pants. Plus, I just don't go for the "it" anything. "It" is a marketing strategy to get women (or men) to buy whatever "it" is.

I agree with rockin' mom... this haircut is so old... I'm surprised it's barely catching on. It's such a nice cut.

    Boring, old, nothing new.

How about being unique, doing what looks best on you and your hair type, not copying what some call the latest look?!

    yawn.
