Lips: What to do with them?

I find that I don't really like to wear anything on my lips, but over the past few month's I've been experimenting with different glosses and lipsticks. I used to love Revlon's Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Nude Lustre, and maybe I still do but I haven't been wearing it as much as I used to.

I bought my first lipstick in January: a MAC Cremesheen in "Stay in Touch." I originally went there to find a nude shade for my lips after reading an article on the best way to wear nude lipstick. But then I got sort of confused. When you say "nude," does that mean a beige color or does that actually mean the color of your own lips? I would have thought that "nude" meant the color of my own lips or skin because that's what nude is to ME. But the lady that helped me at the counter didn't seem to be on the same wavelength as me and she kept suggesting ugly tan/beige colors that did nothing for me.

I got another lipstick as a free sample after buying my Artistik Cosmetics 88 and 78 palettes from a seller on ebay. This lipstick is from a brand that I'd never heard of, called EC, and it's a shimmery mauve color that I like a lot. It's not too far from the natural color of my lips and gives me a nice shimmer if I'm going for something subtle.

These days I stick a lip brush into my Blistex and then dip it into some eyeshadow. Then I dab it all over my bottom lip and blot so that the color covers my whole lip. This is a great way to add some color to your lips if you don't like the feel of lipstick of gloss, and you just want a subtle hint of color.

Stela did a great comparison on the different glosses she's tried over the years, which you can read here. After reading it, I think I might experiement with lipglosses a little more and see if I can't find something that I really like.

    Hi Christine!

It IS true how we all have different interpretations of the word "nude". My current obsession is beige lipstick, so I'm quite sure that's influencing how I view "nude". :)

btw: Great lipgloss comparison by Stela!

Hey Brenda, thanks for the comment!

I'm really obsessed with using my EC lipstick as a base and then dabbing gold/peachy shimmery eyeshadow on top of it because it goes great with my beachy/natural look. I also love to play up the eyes more than anything else so the subtle color on my lips does a great job of not stealing any attention from my eyes.
