How Much Do You Trust Your Hair Stylist?

I've realized this summer that a hair stylist that you trust to give you what YOU want every time is hard to come by. Sure, there are a lot of talented people out there with a pair of scissors, but do you think you could go to your guy/girl, sit down in the chair with your eyes closed and leave with your hair looking exactly how you like it?

Are you chatty with your hair stylist?!

This is how I feel about the man behind my hair, Pasquale, at Ion Studio in NYC. I've got short hair so the cut has got to be good because there is no ponytail happening on this head! I swear I could go in with a blindfold and walk out looking like a million bucks—no directions necessary. I like to take risks, but a stylist has to walk me through it before my hair is all over the floor. Pasquale's cut doesn't take hours and hours, but he goes slow enough that it's not gone in two snips. All in all, this man makes my life a little less stressful. It's truly amazing how much time/energy you save when you don't have to worry about your hair!

Do you have a go-to? Or are you still shopping around? Has there only been one person that's ever touched your hair? (The same woman cut my hair for 19 years until I moved to New York). Would you let this little stylist go to work on your head?

Give me your rules/qualifications for a trustworthy hair pro. Think you could get a cut without watching the work in the progress?

With my life... ok, maybe not that bad... but yes, I do trust mine to give me what I want... in fact, I sometimes don't even have to tell her what new style I want... she does a very good job with my hair and is the reason why no woman's (or man's) pair of scissors will ever touch my head... unless I move too far a way that is..

As a stylist I can totally relate. I hear from my clients too often that other stylists never listened to their requests. I make every effort to include the client and I want them to love their hair the minute they are done, not wait forever till it grows out! Some of my clients prefer total involvement, and others say "I trust you". Either way is fine with me, because I try hard to never forget that the CLIENT is wearing it, not me! My clientele is so loyal, some I've cared for over 2 decades, and they always send me their friends and families. That is what makes me successful I think -- Listening!
