Get Rid of Split Ends!

QUESTION: How can I get rid of split ends?

ANSWER: Sounds like your hair needs some serious moisture! Split ends
happen  when the protective cuticle on your hair strand is stripped away
(remember my advice about flat irons?) and the hair shaft dries out. There are
tons of activities that we do every day that can lead to dried-out hair: swimming in
chlorinated water, spending a lot of time in the sun, using styling tools like
blow-dryers or curling irons too frequently, or even brushing hair while it’s still wet.

But don’t stress — there are plenty of solutions that can help you get hair healthy. Your first step is to get a haircut, so you can get all the split ends taken off. Then, start a serious conditioning routine. You can try a detangling leave-in conditioner after you shower, or try a deep conditioner like the Bumble and Bumble Crème de Coco Hair Masque, $24, available at bumbleandbumble.com, once a week. If the conditioners seem to be
weighing your strands down, skip your roots and apply them only to the ends.

Another quick volumizing trick: blow-dry your hair on a cool setting with your head upside down to achieve the same volume and lift without the damaging dry heat.

as crazy as this may sound my hair used to have bad split ends and my girfriend was a hair stylist and i did this myself and it really works, you take very small portions at a time and twist little strands of hair as tight as you can twist it and all your split end will be sticking out while holding hair tight you quickly run a candle under one strad at a time but make sure u have a professional helping you, try this it works ,good luck

Honestly, I really think the only way to get rid of split ends is to get a trim. If anything out there REALLY worked, then everyone would know about it and use it. It's like diet pills... if anything REALLY worked, there wouldn't be any over weight ppl.

One great way to get rid of split ends is to sleep on a satin pillowcase. When you sleep on satin your hair gently glides across the top. When you sleep on cotton your hair suffers from friction and the cotton also pulls all the moisture out of your hair causing your hair to become brittle. The combination of friction and loss of moisture is what causes your hair to split. I've tried a few satin pillowcases over the years but the sets I'm using now are just amazing. They are absolutely beautiful and they've held up to constant washings. They have a page on their website that just talks about the benefits of sleeping on satin and it's very informative. If you go to http://www.atouchofsatin.com you'll be able to see what they have and read about all the benefits. I certainly hope this helps you!
