Are Professional Manicures Worth It?

I know it's a bit hard to see because of the lighting situation, but take a look at these two sets of hands here. They're both sporting the same Wet N Wild Craze shade (called Nocturnal), but there's a difference...

I was out to dinner with two of the ladies from Creative Media Marketing (the company that represents Wet N Wild) last night when they both put their hands on the table to show me their nail situations.

The hands on the left, sporting the almost-still-intact mani belong to Janelle, who took her bottle to a professional nail salon almost two weeks ago. The chipped ones on the right belong to Andrea, who did hers herself over the weekend. And they both used professional-quality base coats!

Gel manicures: no drying time, no chipping!

I think Janelle's manicure is a little freakishly good—I've never had one last that long and it's only happened for Petra when she went for that special gel treatment, but even putting that aside, I was surprised there was such a difference. But, then, when I get my nails done the nail tech always takes more time than I do when I do my own polishin'. Just goes to show you the power of taking a little more care, I suppose.
