Applegate, Pattinson, Clooney and Michelle Obama top People's "Most Beautiful" list

People has unveiled its 20th annual 100 Most Beautiful People list, and overall we have to say the list was fairly predictable. Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and People’s Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman all made the list along with Michelle Obama and those much discussed arms of hers. Pop phenoms Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were also not shocking additions.

We highly approve of relative newcomers and on-screen couples Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from “Twilight,” and Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto of “Slumdog Millionaire.” We’re 100% behind the decision for a “Stars Without Makeup” section, including our favorite supermodel ever, Cindy Crawford, and the cute girls of “90210. Kudos also to the comedians on the list who prove nothing is sexier than a sense of humor. Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Mann and Chelsea Handler all made the cut.

Now on to the more surprising decisions!

Christina Applegate made the cover! We’ve loved the actress since her early days on “Married with Children,” and though the show isn’t a smash, we were glad to see Applegate rebound into the spotlight with “Samantha Who?” as well as a stint on Broadway. Though she was an unlikely choice, her breast cancer double mastectomy and recovery story is surely one of the most beautiful tales we witnessed all year. At 37 years old, Applegate remains as pretty on the outside as she is in her heart.

Here’s where People’s list starts to fall off. Aside from the obvious choices that bored us, the magazine screws up and picks Taylor Momsen, young Jenny from “Gossip Girl,” instead of Leighton Meester or Blake Lively, the stunning Blair and Serena. Sure, they might have been on last year’s list, but they are far and above the prettiest young things on TV.

And the worst thing about the list? People singles out two of the Jonas Brothers—Nick and Joe Jonas—and excludes Kevin Jonas from the list. Way to be completely shallow! As women who don’t even fully understand or appreciate the obsession with the Jonas Brothers, we still think this move is totally screwed up, and thus have soured on the list.

The 100 Most Beautiful People in the World issue hits newsstands later this week. Do you agree with the magazine’s picks? Who would you include on the list? [People][E!]

Awesome I am the FIRST!!! I do not get the Jonas Brother, and they are all kind off Fugly!! Taylor Momsen use to be Cute _ I am not sure what happen to her. Leighton Meester is soooooo Pretty, and is always so lovely in interviews. I like Blake lively, but she is a little over-rated.

I think if they were to pick anyone from Gossip Girl it should've been Jessica Szohr--she's drop-dead gorgeous. That ink-black hair, tan skin and blue-gray eyes of hers make a unique and exotic beauty. Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively are all very girl-next-door; while they're all very pretty they're also somewhat ordinary to me. I think the same thing about the young Disney stars too--they're all people who I've seen carbon-copies of in high school. Not too remarkable. Other than that, I do like that Christina Applegate is on the cover; she does have a very inspiring story on top of being beautiful.

Sorry.... Michelle Obama is a very attractive woman that carries her self well and does have a sense of style, but there is no way I would EVER call her beautiful.

demi lovato definitely isnt pretty, in my opinion. thats what i hate about celebrities. they are all just average people that got lucky. they have average looks but amazing makeup artists. [and demi lovato? no. not at all.]

and did i mention freida pinto? people are hailing her like she's the prettiest woman ever. but she isn't. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of indian people look better than her or the same. all she did? act a few scenes from a movie and BOOM! instant fame. if thats not luck i dont know what is.

I'm just glad they didn't pick Angelina Jolie. She is just a recycled Kelly LaBrock.

How about the top 100 least attractive celebrities list? Notice how I didn't say "ugly" ;-) I'd love to see that. I have a few names already: Renee Zellweger, Uma Thurman, Jack Black, Shelley Duvall, Jack Nicholson, Melissa Etheridge, Joan Rivers, Gene Simmons, Roseanne Barr, Kathy Griffin, Larry King, Tom Arnold, Sandra Bullock, Neil Young, Kelsey Grammar, Ted Danson, Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhal...there's more but I've got the ball started anyway....... ;-)

Love that "ugly list"! Let's add Paris Hilton and her "male" twin Hilton Perez..lol! Anyway I feel really bad for that left out Jonas brother, he must feel very s---ty right about now. To the "beautiful list" we definitely need to add Leighton Meester and Jessica Szohr. We are such a superficial country aren't we?
